Saving places from social media

How we help you save spots from Instagram and TikTok posts

How it works

When you see a post about a place you want to visit, you can share the link directly to Pocket Places. We read the post to find the location, then add it to your map.

  1. 1You share a link — From Instagram or TikTok, tap share and choose Pocket Places.
  2. 2We read the caption — We look at the post's text, hashtags, and location tag to find place names.
  3. 3We look up the place — Once we identify a location, we fetch the real details (address, hours, ratings) from Google Places.
  4. 4You review and save — We show you what we found. You choose which spots to save to your map.

What we store

We save the place information from Google, not the original social media content. The caption text is only used to find the location, then it's discarded.

Your role in this

You decide what to share. Pocket Places never browses social media on your behalf or discovers content automatically. Every link comes from you.

This feature is designed for personal use — saving places you want to visit. We ask that you:

A note on platform terms

Instagram and TikTok have their own rules about how their content can be used. We believe saving a restaurant name from a post you're viewing is reasonable personal use — similar to jotting it down in a notebook. That said, we can't speak for how those platforms interpret their terms.

For content creators

We respect the work that goes into creating travel and food content. Pocket Places helps your audience remember the places you share — which means more potential visits to the spots you recommend.

If you're a creator and have questions about how your content appears in Pocket Places, we'd be happy to chat. Reach out at hello@pocketplaces.app.
