What has a number on it
These are the three things Plus is for. If none of them is in your way, the free plan is the whole app and you need nothing from this page.
| Free | Plus | |
|---|---|---|
| Saving spots from a shared post or link | 20 a month | 200 a month |
| Places brought over in bulk from a Google Takeout or Mapstr export | 25 in all | 1,000 a month |
| Lists that add matching spots on their own | 3 at a time | Every list |
Plus's own numbers are set high enough that they are not meant to be met. If you are reaching them, write to us.
What has no number on it
A free account is a whole app, not a trial of one. Nothing below is behind Plus, and nothing you have saved is ever taken away.
Not sure what any of that is? Start here, or read how a post becomes a place.
Questions
Yes. The app is free on iOS and Android and the spots you save are never capped. Three things are metered on the free plan — 20 shared posts or links a month, 25 places brought over in bulk from an export, and three lists filling themselves at once — and Plus raises all three.
It is offered monthly and annually, and the price of each is shown in the app before you buy, in your local currency. Apple or Google takes the payment; we never see your card details.
One post, link or screenshot you share in. However many spots it turns out to name, it is one. An export file is counted differently — by how many places come across, not by the file.
Because a big import is the most expensive thing the app does, and it is the reason Plus exists. The free plan brings 25 across so you can see the import work on your own places first, and Plus brings a whole map over. Nothing you have already saved is ever taken away.
Your spots, lists, trips and passport stay exactly as they are. The allowances go back to the free plan’s, so the three metered things are limited again. Nothing is deleted because a subscription ended. Cancel in your Apple or Google account settings — deleting the app does not cancel it.
No, on either plan. Pocket Places may earn a commission when a stay or a tour is booked through a link in the app, and that is the only other way it makes money.
The full subscription terms — billing, renewal, cancelling and refunds — are in section 9 of the Terms of Service.
